Description

Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are registered nurses who have completed additional university education in order to expand their scope of practice.  They work collaboratively with family physicians and the allied health care professionals to provide accessible, comprehensive, holistic care to patients of all ages.  NPs improve care through health promotion, disease prevention, and chronic disease management.

NPs are able to:

  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Diagnose illnesses/injuries
  • Prescribe medications
  • Perform physical examinations
  • Manage chronic diseases
  • Provide education and counselling
  • Make referrals to specialists and external services.

Our Nurse Practitioners all work as general primary care NPs, but also have their own special programs and interests, such as cardiac care, women’s health, prenatal care, sexual health, geriatrics, etc.
